(AP) - The Nevada Commission on Tourism plans to target large population centers and build on other promotions to lure visitors to the Silver State.

Marketing campaigns will focus on populated regions within easy driving distance or with convenient airport access, and where people have shown a strong likelihood of visiting Nevada.

Tourism officials say they will continue other efforts using social media networks, which have been used to link airline schedules to the agency's mobile Web site and allow people to buy ski lift tickets from their mobile phones.

The tourism commission also says monthly newsletters are e-mailed to about 130,000 people who have requested periodic event information. E-mails also target specific people who've expressed an interest in specific activities, such as arts and culture, skiing, golf #and motorcycle touring.
