County managers to speak at NNDA breakfast meeting

The county manager from Carson City, Churchill, Douglas, Lyon and Storey counties will address the next Northern Nevada Development Authority meeting on May 26.

The event will be held at the Gold Dust West, 2171 Highway 50 E., in Carson City.

Cost is $20 for NNDA investors and $35 at the door. (No-shows will be billed $35.)

Carson City caregiver receives award

The American Network of Community Options and Resources awarded Ann Stirling of Dungarvin in Carson City its 2010 Direct Support Professional of the Year in Nevada.

"The honor is a reflection of Ann Stirling's commitment and the quality services provided by Dungarvin," said Genelle Thompson, director for Dungarvin in Carson City.

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), often referred to as caregivers, personal assistants, direct care or homecare aides, provide daily support services for millions with disabilities.

Coldwell Realtors earn certificates

Jenny Lopiccolo, broker/owner of Coldwell Banker Best Sellers in Carson City and Dayton, announced that 21 agents at the company have earned the Short Sales and Foreclosure Resource certification from the National Association of Realtors.

Lopiccolo estimates that approximately 60 percent of recent local sales have involved a short sale or bank owned property.
