Jury: Drug companies liable in Vegas hep C case

LAS VEGAS (AP) - A jury in Las Vegas has awarded more than $5 million to a couple who sued two drug companies that provided anesthetic to endoscopy clinics at the center of a hepatitis C outbreak.

The jury ruled against Teva Parenteral Medicines and Baxter Healthcare on Wednesday and awarded $3.25 million to 61-year-old Henry Chanin. The jury also awarded $1.85 million to Chanin's wife, Lorraine.
