Chicken house burned: Last evening an alarm of fire caused by a small conflagration started in a hen house belonging to the Boston Bakery. During the fire, the atmosphere was filled with the odors of roast chicken which drew large numbers of tramps to the spot. The remaining chickens were taken in by the employees of the neighboring Chinese wash houses.

Dickey turns up: Two years ago A.S. Dickey was reported as drowned in Lake Tahoe. He left a wife and child. A few days ago, Budd Bliss ran against him in Reno and recognized him. Dickey at first pretended he was someone else. He said he "faked" the drowning because of gambling debts and wanted to go away and hide his disgrace. He had never communicated with his wife, who moved to the East, and she supposed him dead.
70 YEARS AGO
The University of Nevada Press Club dedicated a plaque in honor of Robert "Bob" Davis, world-famous journalist who started his newspaper career as a compositor on the Carson City Daily Appeal. Mrs. Lucy D. Crowell, the only member of the Davis family present, thanked the university group for honoring her uncle.
