The CHS band program is holding an Earthquake Relief Concert at 7 p.m. May 20 at the Carson City Community Center. Cost is $5 at the door.

All proceeds from the event will go to Red Cross to aid with relief efforts in Haiti and Chile.

Former Carson High students were honored for excellence at Mackay School of Engineering and Earth Sciences. The awards banquet was last Friday night.

Patty Capistrant (Class of 2005) was awarded Outstanding Field Camp Student, Jack Jacquet (Class of 2006) was awarded Outstanding Mining Engineering Student. Both are graduating this month.

The 2010 Nevada SkillsUSA Championships Conference took place April 27- 30 in Las Vegas. We had 33 students compete.

Congratulations to all the students and their instructors in career and technical education.

Gold Medals: Sierra Jiron in Architectural Drafting and Caitlin Cosen in Photography.

Silver Medals: Kevin Craig in Food and Beverage Service, Alexis Church in Extemporaneous Speaking, Ashley Saarem in Job Interview, Ashley Christl in Web Design, Megan Breen in Web Design, Rebecca Baltisberger in Television Productions (Video), Mark Lacey in Television Productions (Video).

Bronze Medals: Alexis Church in Architectural Drafting, Dominic Mariani in Web Design, Daniel Gall in Web Design, Richard Tucker in Job Demonstration Open.

Carson High School's Athletic office will host a Fall Parent Information Night at

6 p.m. May 25 in the Morse Burley Gymnasium.

After a brief talk by Athletic Director Bob Bateman, parents and students will be able to talk to the fall coaches regarding training and tryouts.

Sports packets for next year will be available in June at www.carsonhigh.com.

The Fall Athletic Clearing Night and physicals will be

6-8 p.m. Aug. 4. Each physical is $10.

If you wish to get a physical prior to this date, you can download the NIAA Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation, "Form D" from the NIAA.com website.

This form is the only physical form recognized as valid, unless otherwise cleared through the athletic office.

The Student Council would like to say thank you to Garibaldi's restaurant for opening early on prom night to accommodate our seniors. Also, thank you to the numerous donors from the community and businesses that have made deals for our seniors to have the best prom ever.

Get Fit class would like to thank Samira who came and taught ZUMBA, and to Jenny Pasas from Eagle Fitness who came and taught a kickboxing boot camp class. We had two really great workouts.
