The "Rocket:" A propeller for "The Rocket," destined for the logging boat on Mono Lake, passed south of town perched on top of a huge wagon. It belongs to Henry Langly and Mason Annos and is 36 feet by 10 feet. It will accommodate passengers and tow two lumber barges across the Lake. An old English witch once prophesied that when a ship went over dry land, the Byron estates would pass from the owners. A small ship was conveyed across the country on wheels and the same year saw the Byron family lose their estate. Perhaps something will happen of an extraordinary nature on this occasion.
Piscatorial: At the Episcopal festival there will be all sorts of devices to lure coin from the pockets of the worldly to the exchequer of the Lord. There will be a fish pond, 25 cents a drop. Hub Parker, Fish Commissioner for Nevada, has been chosen as keeper of the pool. Lines, poles, bait, furnished. He claims the pond to be the best stocked on the coast.
