A security officer for the V&T railroad was arrested early Wednesday on warrants for burglary and embezzlement after police located him sleeping in his car at the Mound House train depot.

Lars Christian Hansson, 57, was booked into the Carson City Jail at 2:46 a.m. on Lyon County warrants for felony burglary, misdemeanor embezzlement and two misdemeanor failure to appear traffic warrants from Lyon County and Carson City.

According to criminal complaints filed in Lyon County Justice Court in Dayton, Hansson allegedly stole tools and misused about $200 belonging to man for whom he worked as a handyman in April 2009.

A Carson City Sheriff's sergeant on patrol in the area of the Mound House depot early Wednesday spotted Hansson asleep in his vehicle with four dogs.

When awakened, Hansson said he was working security for the V&T, watching a locomotive overnight.

According to the arrest report, a party responsible for the V&T was called out, and Hansson was taken to jail.

His bail was set at $25,000.
