Obituary: Dow Gasser Lazenby

Dow Gasser Lazenby, father, 68, died May 7, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital in Twin Falls, Idaho, of a heart attack. He was born Nov. 5, 1941, in Burwell, Neb., to Hugh R. Lazenby and Hazel Grace Lazenby.

Dow is survived by his three loving children, Dow H. Lazenby Jr., Deborah G. Lazenby and Louis H. Lazenby. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Rose Angela Lazenby.

Dow and his mother lived in San Jose, Calif., through his high school years. He graduated from Andrew Hill High School in 1959. He participated in sports like football, wrestling, baseball, etc., as well as other clubs. He met Rose Angela Cather in San Jose and married in 1964, had three children. They moved to Nevada in 1980, where they resided for 30 years in Reno, Washoe Valley and then Dayton.

Dow was a truck driver for almost 45 years. He drove everything from long haul, short haul, construction, water trucks, dump trucks, fire trucks and tankers. He hauled for many companies and owned his own trucking company called Dow Transportation. Before he started trucking he was in forestry and volunteer firefighting in Ukiah and Lakeport, Calif.

Off the road, he enjoyed trains, classic cars and trucks. He was an avid racing fan, mostly circle track, outlaw sprints and Nascar and also did some racing himself. He also enjoyed the Indy 500, NFL and college football. He was an avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers, Cleveland Browns and the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

He will be missed by the many that knew and loved him. A memorial may be held at a later date.
