A Carson City man was jailed Thursday after allegedly tailgating a woman's vehicle from Minden to Carson City, then threatening her husband with a crutch in the DMV parking lot.

John Delvecchio, 24, was booked into the Carson City Jail at 4:30 p.m. on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon, gross misdemeanor possession of prescription drugs without a prescription, misdemeanor aggressive driving, possession of marijuana pipes, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving on a revoked license.

According to the police report, at 3:35 p.m. a Carson City mother made a "frantic" phone call to her husband to report two men in a black Cadillac had followed her and tried to run her off the road several times from Minden to the DMV on Wright Way. The woman's three children, ages 1 to 14, also were in the car.

Shortly after the men entered the DMV, according to the report, the husband arrived on scene and waited for them to exit. When they did, the husband said he pointed a finger at Delvecchio and told him to "watch his driving," according to the report.

Delvecchio allegedly became enraged and grabbed an aluminum crutch his companion was using and held it above his head in a "threatening manner."

When the husband backed away, Delvecchio returned the crutch to his companion.

Upon Delvecchio's arrest, officers were preparing to tow his unregistered vehicle when they allegedly found a bag containing marijuana pipes, and various prescription pills in a plastic container.

His bail was set at $20,000.
