LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police say an officer shot and killed a man armed with a knife who aggressively approached officers and refused to drop the weapon.
Police say they were called late Saturday to investigate a reported attack with a knife. Officers arrived and saw 45-year-old Brian Shelton of Las Vegas sitting on a block wall and allegedly armed with a knife.
The police department says Shelton got off the wall and aggressively approached the officers, ignoring their commands for him to stop and drop the knife.
When he continued approaching, police say one officer fired three rounds, striking Shelton and incapacitating him.
Shelton was transported to a hospital and later died.
Police say the investigation is ongoing. The name of the officer involved wasn't immediately released.
