Capital City Community Band Concert
The Capital City Community Band will present a free Old Fashioned Band Concert at
3 p.m. Sunday in the Boldrick Theater in the Carson City Community Center.
The band will perform a variety of music ranging from classical to show tunes to marches.

Artists invited to show work at Minden exhibit
Artists from the Carson City and Carson Valley region are invited to show their work at the Carson Valley Art Association's Carson Valley Days Fine Art Show June 11-13.
The non-judged show will take place in the CVIC Hall at 5th and Esmeralda streets in Minden. A People's Choice ribbon will be awarded.

TOAD presents
'Steel Magnolias'
Theatre of Arts Discipline (TOAD) will present "Steel Magnolias" at the Carson Valley Arts Council's Copeland Cultural Arts Center, ArtBar, at 7 p.m. May 20 and 21 and 2 p.m. May 22.

Pinkerton performs 'Alice' in dance
Pinkerton Ballet Theatre presents "Alice in Dance Wonderland" performed by Ayako's Dance Studio at 7 p.m. May 28 at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St., Carson City.

Wild Horse Children's Theater concludes is magical journey with the final shows "Disney's Aladdin, Jr." at 7 p.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City.

Join the fun and learn ballroom dancing
Registrations still are being taken for two Beginners Ballroom classes taught by Larry Ward.
The classes are 6:30-8 p.m. Sundays at the Genoa Town Hall and 6:30-8 p.m. Mondays at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center. Registration for the 20-week courses will continue for the next two weeks: May 23 and 24 in Genoa and May 24-31 in Carson City.
Ward, who has 55-years dance experience, teaches the Texas two-step, salsa, waltz, cha cha, East Coast swing, tango, rumba and fox trot.

Monthly swing dance gathering is Saturday
High Sierra Swing Dance Club presents its monthly dance May 22 at the Brewery Arts Center's Grand Ballroom, 449 W. King St.
There will be a lesson at

Membership planned for contra dance group
The Fun Family Dance! contra dance group will become a membership organization in July. The dues will be $25 per year for adults, $10 per year for youth 16-25, and $40 for families.
Memberships registered at the May and June dances will receive special discounts.
Benefits include 20 percent discount on dance admissions, usually 11 regular dances per year, and discounts at other contra dances sponsored by CDSS affiliates.
Fun Family Dance! has a wonderful community to dance and socialize with, a great band - Train Wreck - and skilled callers Darla, George, Dan, and visiting callers.
Membership dues pay for hall rental and overhead expenses such as insurance and membership in the Country Song and Dance Society. The admission fees pay the band, and on occasion, the callers.

'Broadway" comes to Minden
"Broadway through The Decades," a musical production by Carson Valley Community Theatre, is featured at the CVIC Hall in Minden at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sundays.
The musical review will include early Broadway tunes to the latest shows. Local talent ranging from teenage to mature performers will delight the audience with their renditions of familiar Broadway show tunes and dance numbers.
The production is the second run of Broadway hits for the CVCT group. The production is directed by Norris Edson with Carolyn Lancaster as musical director. The musical review will take the audience on a sound excursion of popular show tunes.
Opening night includes a champagne and dessert gala for $20. General admission is $17, students and seniors for $14.

Art workshops in Minden
Lone Tree Gallery will host a series of art classes in May and June.
• Four-session class in Pastel Art with Thaleia Georgiades begins on Friday.
• One-day Bootcamp for the Outdoor Painter with Thaleia Georgiades begins May 23 (or May 27, depending on interest). For painters in any medium and is a great opportunity to learn how to tackle outdoor painting.
• An ongoing Pleinair (outdoor) Oil Painting class with Greg Drinkwine will start on June 5. Greg is an expert oil painter who also conducts a studio class in oil painting weekly on Thursdays.
• Bootcamps for Outdoor Painters with Thaleia Georgiades will be offered on June 10 and June 17 to continue to explore pleinair painting.
• Make a Gourd Birdhouse with Jan Rollenhagen on June 19.
• Three-day PleinAir (outdoor) watercolor workshop with master watercolorist Lady Jill Mueller will be held June 25-27.
• Call for reservations in Don Fotine's ongoing Watercolor class which meets on Tuesdays.
