Nicholas Ambrose gone: Nicholas Ambrose, known as "Dutch Nick," died at Empire of consumption at age 53 years. He has been a sort of landmark in Empire and came to the country in 1855 with ex-Sheriff Swift. He leaves a wife and six children to mourn (buried at the Empire cemetery).

Mother and son grifters, Sante Kimes and Kenneth Kimes were convicted of murdering an 82-year-old millionaire. Kimes was known as Sandy Chambers when she graduated from Carson High School in 1952.
