BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Suspended Boise State player Jason Robinson was sentenced to 180 days in jail and ordered to pay $29,000 in restitution for breaking another man's jaw during a fight at a downtown bar.

Robinson pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery Tuesday in a deal with prosecutors. The judge suspended 160 days of a sentence that allows him to serve on a county labor crew instead of jail. Robinson must also serve two years' probation and complete 200 hours of community service.

Robinson apologized for his behavior and said he has learned a lesson. He was initally charged with a felony. But a felony conviction would have ended his eligibility for his athletic scholarship.

The 21-year-old safety was suspended in March. Last season, he collected 26 tackles playing mostly on special teams.
