Alice dances her way through Wonderland in the Pinkerton Ballet Theatre presentation of "Alice in Dance Wonderland," performed by Ayako's Dance Studio.

The dance version of the classic story will play one time at 7 p.m. Friday, May 28 at the Carson City Community Center's Bob Boldrick Theater, 851 E. William St.

"Alice in Dance Wonderland" tells the basic story of "Alice in Wonderland,"

"Of course there's no talking, and we try to incorporate our students into the show," said Ayako Britt, artistic director and owner of Ayako's Dance Studio. "(Alice is) dancing her way through the story instead of going one place to another.

"There are going to be little side roads we've taken .. adding a little flourish here and there."

About 65 dancers are involved in the production, and those side roads provide the way to get more dancers involved.

The caterpillars and butterflies are there, plus leprechauns and garden flowers. Big Alice, played by Brianna Goodfellow of Dayton, changes to Little Alice, played by Maddie Gillott of Carson City, and back to Big Alice, which is the "normal" Alice, Britt said.

The White Rabbit is played by Britney Eichenberger of Carson City. Other parts are played by dancers from Carson City, Dayton, Sparks, Stagecoach and Washoe Valley.

"I do enjoy doing it," she said. "I get into it. I have some little ones I'm just tickled about. They're so adorable.

"I think 'oh my gosh they'll never do this,' and they just come through."

The studio performed "Alice in Dance Wonderland" about 10 years ago, Britt said. "We've kind of expanded on this ... recreating, expanding and changing what we did 10 years ago as a dance performance."

Tickets are $10 for general admission and $6 for seniors and children 10 years and under. For tickets and information please call 775-882-2916.
