Pops Party concert set for Governor's Mansion
The back lawn of the Governor's Mansion is the site of the Carson City Symphony's 26th annual "Pops Party" concert at
3 p.m. June 13.
The program features the Carson City Symphony, Carson Chamber Singers, Strings in the Schools youth orchestra, and guest singers Gary Aldrich and Olivia Hakel.
Grounds open at 2 p.m. for pre-concert entertainment by the Symphony Flute Ensemble.
Admission is free. Seating is on the lawn; the audience is welcome to bring food, blankets or lawn chairs, but some chairs will be provided. Snacks, beverages and raffle tickets will be on sale before and during the concert to benefit the Carson City Symphony Association's artistic and educational programs.

U.S.A.F. Band returns to Carson City to perform
The U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West returns to Carson City and will perform at 6:30 p.m. June 9 in the Bob Boldrick Theater of the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.
The performance is sponsored by the Carson City Chamber of Commerce and the Carson City Parks and Recreation Department.

Kid's carp derby at Lahontan Reservoir
The Nevada Department of Wildlife is sponsoring a kid's carp derby from 8 a.m. to noon June 5 at Lahontan Reservoir.
The clinic is designed for children and is free to all participants. There will be a contest for the largest carp caught. Categories will be separated by age. Minimum 3 years of age. A parent or guardian must accompany all children younger than 16.
Meeting place will be at the north boat ramp. Registration is required. For more information, call the Department of Wildlife at 688-1559.
Participants are requested to provide their own tackle. A limited number of rods will be available for use by those who do not have their own fishing equipment. A fishing license is required for those 12 years of age and older.
GOP Central Committee meets Thursday
The Carson City Republican Central Committee meets Thursday in the Sierra Room of The Plaza Hotel, 801 S. Carson St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting begins at 7 p.m.
Speakers are the Republican Primary candidates for School Trustees. They are District 1 Julie Bushner, Tom Keeton and Robert Prater, and District 6 Paul Brugger and Barbara Myers.
Supervisor Ward 1 candidate, Paul Saucedo is also speaking. There will be time for Q&A.

Artists invited for Minden show from June 11-13
Artists from the Carson City and Carson Valley region are invited to show their work at the Carson Valley Art Association's Carson Valley Days Fine Art Show June 11-13 in the CVIC Hall in Minden, 5th and Esmeralda streets.
This is a nonjudged show, but a People's Choice ribbon is awarded.
Receiving time for entries is 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 10. Show hours are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. June 11; 10 a.m.-6 p.m. June 12; and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. June 13. Pickup is 3-4 p.m. June 13.
An artist reception will be 6-8 p.m. June 11, with snacks and beverages.

Carson City Natives & Newcomers will hold its annual Rummage & Community Garage Sale 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, May 29 at the NV50 parking lot in Mound House (Highway 50 East, approximately 1/2 mile east of the V&T overcrossing)
