A touching incident: When a parrot owned by a lady of this city flew around the room singing, "The Watch on the Rhine," the air of the grand old hymn could be heard throughout the house. The lady of the house discovered that the bird had just taken a bath in a pitcher of beer from Klein's brewery.

The Nevada Humanities committee funded proposals. The Yerington Theatre of the Arts received $5,271 for "Walker River Basin - Expressing Our Heritage" ... the Stewart Indian Museum in Carson City received $3,120 for its exhibit, "Indian Life Through Indian Eyes."

Jackie Crawford has been named Nevada's second female warden. The job pays $92,914 a year.
