All things old school are coming to the Comstock Friday through Sunday, when Mugrosos Car Club and Dead End Cruisers host the second annual Battleborn Showdown Car and Bike Show & Shine.

The event opens with early registration Friday at noon, kicking off three days of vintage fun.

"The theme of Battleborn is to remember the old school style of cars and bikes," said Danny Collazo, one of the event founders. "The show is open only to pre-1965 vehicles and bikes must be 1970s or earlier."

The Show & Shine takes place in Virginia City at the Silverland Inn & Suites parking lot, where more than 300 traditional hotrods, customs and motorcycles will be displayed. This is a family-friendly event attended by an estimated 2,000 people.

"Last year we had about 150 entries, so its doubling in the second year," Collazo said. "We're really happy to see how many people want to be a part of this and to be supported by the locals.

"This started with 'hey let's do a car show and see what happens,' so to see so many people want to come out has been amazing."

An estimated 20 car clubs will be represented, with entrants coming from as far south as San Diego and as far north as Redding, Calif.

In keeping with the retro theme, there will be a pin-up contest featuring '50s-style clothing sponsored by Made for Glory Signs, and an on-site barber for those wanting a "real barber experience," Collazo said.

"We'll have food vendors, clothing, crafts, all geared to creating that retro feeling," he said.

Entrants "Plus we've got lots of music scheduled."

The headliners in that arena are The Delta Bombers, playing the after-party at Red Dog Saloon, at 8 p.m. Saturday, following trophy presentations.

Entry fees are $20 for cars, $10 for bikes and free to the public. For more information, visit riderag.com, myspace.com/battlebornshowdown or call 775-287-8266.
