Rose Ellen Bowler was summoned by God on Oct. 29, 2010, after a lengthy illness. She was born Sept. 13, 1928, to Norma Petriken and James. G. Pacina in Johnstown, Pa. While living in Southern California, she met the love of her life, John E. Bowler and they were married on Feb. 15, 1947. Rose and John moved to Carson City in 1984 upon retiring from ARAMCO in Saudi Arabia. She became an active member of St. Teresa of Avila Church, St. Teresa Ladies Guild, and a volunteer at St. Teresa School. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in March of 1999. Many charities were supported by her and her husband.
Family and friends were a very important part of Rose's life. She is survived by her six children: Frank of Reno, Barbara of Cottonwood, Ariz., John Jr. of Loomis, Calif., Patricia of Monroe, N.C., Marri of Dayton, and Dan of Carson City; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom will deeply miss her.
A visitation will be at Walton's Funeral Home from 2-6 p.m. Nov. 8, followed by a Rosary and vigil at 6:30 p.m. Funeral service will be at St. Teresa's in Carson City, at 10 a.m. Nov. 9, 2010. Burial will follow at Lone Mountain Cemetery, where she will rest with her beloved John.
