RENO (AP) - A Reno High School student has been bound over for trial on charges stemming from a Sept. 9 gang-related knife attack of another student on campus.
A Reno newspaper reports Justice of the Peace Patricia Lynch ruled Wednesday that there was sufficient evidence to try 16-year-old Alex Hernandez on charges of attempted murder and battery.
Hernandez, who will be tried as an adult, is accused of stabbing another male student 10 times in the upper body, causing two collapsed lungs and wounds to his head and back.
Police testified that Hernandez told them he stabbed the boy because he felt the victim had been disrespectful by disparaging his gang.
