With 34 people turning out for a good cause, the Dayton Resource Bank raised more than $1,100 during its My Sole Purpose 5K run Oct. 16. All proceeds will benefit Dayton area school children.

Among the participants were Dayton Elementary School Principal Cory Sandburg, Healthy Communities Coalition director Christy McGill, and the entire freshman volleyball team of Dayton High School.

Nearly 100 students in Dayton schools have been assisted through the Dayton Resource Bank in the past two school years.

"We are so pleased with the great success that we were able to achieve with the 5K Walk/Run this first year and we are looking forward to this event in the coming years as it grows and becomes even more successful," said Dayton Task Force leader Sara Ross. "The money raised will benefit so many students in Dayton schools, and we are excited by those prospects."
