Sheer poetry: Sharron Angle, backed by Palin, found her ship was not a sailin'. Harry Reid's campaign was gory, he now must find a job for Rory. (Gadzooks, we love it when we're brilliant.)

Just think, no more political TV ads ... at least until next week, when they'll probably reappear for 2012.

Thanks to the candidates who picked up their signs before M even got out of the house Wednesday (Sheriff Furlong and Assessor Dawley ... youse guys is on da ball). Let's hope the rest follow suit. You have 10 days.

Did you remember to turn your clocks back one hour at 2 a.m. this morning? (That's right ... you were supposed to do it 'exactly' at 2 ... we're sure there's a law). Otherwise, you'll be an hour early for church or brunch or watching football on TV. We slept in.

Happy birthday to Michelle Olson, and Lee Blomquist of the V&T Pet Clinic. Many happy returns (like cake and ice cream and presents). And a thank you to Brian Chamberlin, and "George," for the kind words from each of you this week.

Bruce Smith came through with this one off the Internet: A traveling salesman goes to a farm house. The farmer says, "I can put you up for one night, but you'll have to stay in the barn." So he spends the night there and the next morning the farmer comes in, he goes, "Were you comfortable?"
"Yes," says the salesman. "I talked to all the animals."
The farmer says, "You talked to the animals?" "Yeah, I spoke to the chickens and they say you collect the eggs every morning at exactly five minutes after 6." "That's incredible," says the farmer. "The horse told me his name is Otis," the salesman said. "I also spoke to the cow, her name is Elsie, and you milk her every morning at exactly 8:30 a.m. Then I spoke to the sheep..." The farmer looked at him. "Those sheep are liars."

Great news for Giants fans ... they won the World Series. Probably the only let down was for them to win it in Texas, rather than San Francisco. But, who cares? They won it! Yeaaaaah.
•••
Speaking of winning ... CHS and the Wolfpack are having great seasons ... may the winning continue. Congrats.

Maizie was at Adele's the other night and met a nice couple, Nicky and Len Campbell. They are both in real estate at Lake Tahoe, but live in Carson. When Len discovered he was losing his sight, he went to school to become a massage therapist, and has his own business "The Third Eye." He can be reached at 775-461-0266 or 775-843-6831 for a wonderful massage. He comes with his seeing eye dog, Anastasia, who is quite the lady. If you want to hear a good story about her, you'll have to ask Len ... M was sworn to secrecy.

Veteran's Day is Thursday, Nov. 11. Please tell all the veterans you know, "Thank you," and remember to fly your flags with respect for those still defending our way of life. We are so lucky in this country ... every person who 'disses' our country, ought to go live in a third world area for a year or two (or go help clean up New Orleans ninth ward ... they still need assistance there) ... then maybe they'd appreciate what they have. Veterans paved the way. Thanks again.
