The former Doppelgangers won't be known as Knee Deep Brewing Company, but instead High Sierra Brewing Company.

Owner Jim Phalan said the tentative agreement with Knee Deep, a small brewery that bases its operations in Reno, fell through on Oct. 29.

Phalan said the ideas each party had for the brewery didn't mesh.

"We just had two different paths, both parties didn't understand each other," Phalan said, adding, "There's no hard feeling whatsoever."

He said he hired a general manager, Miles Smith, who has been opening breweries for 20 years. Joe Renden, the brewmaster at Doppel-

gangers, will help in the brewery, too.

Phalan said they're already naming some of their beers, like Pan Handler Amber and Four-Ten Jen Blonde Ale, named after his neighbor from college.

He said the brewery is shooting for a December or January opening and also will feature a restaurant. It's located at 302 N. Carson St.

"I think at the end of the day it will be a win-win for us, and those guys (Knee Deep) are going to be doing pretty well in Reno," Phalan said.
