BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - The University of Colorado has assembled a search committee to help find a replacement for fired football coach Dan Hawkins.
The seven-person committee will be chaired by Dr. David Clough, a longtime faculty member. The list also includes vice chancellors and professors from Colorado, along with chairmen and presidents of corporations.
Hawkins was fired Nov. 9 after going 19-39 in five seasons. Longtime assistant Brian Cabral has taken over the job on an interim basis. He led the Buffaloes to a win over Iowa State on Saturday which kept bowl aspirations alive for Colorado (4-6, 1-5 Big 12).
The group, which will meet later this week, will recommend at least one candidate to athletic director Mike Bohn, who won't serve on the committee. No timetable for a hiring has been announced publicly.
