For some good western fun and a chance to help several local organizations, Coldwell Banker Best Sellers offers its 12th annual Boot Scootin' BBQ from 5-10 p.m. Saturday at Fuji Park.
Christina Rice, chairwoman of the event, said more than 330 people attended last year's barbecue, and organizers are hoping for 350 this year.
"There's dancing, a no-host bar, prizes, and it's a really fun event," she said.
Rice said there will be a live auction, as well as a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle.
In addition, they'll sell prize balloons, she said.
A Catered Affair will provide the barbecue, and music will be offered by Craig & Teri & Friends, as well as deejay Platinumdj's.
"After the event, we total the proceeds, then vote for several charities we'll donate to," Rice said. "It all stays within the community, either Carson City, Dayton or Minden, where we have offices."
Past beneficiaries of the fundraiser were Meals on Wheels, Wild Animal Infirmary, Capital City Arts Initiative, Community Counseling Center, Carson Tahoe Cancer Center, Advocates to End Domestic Violence, Court Appointed Special Advocates, Safe Grad for Carson and Dayton high schools, Gardeners Reclaiming Our Waysides, and various local families in need.
Wrangler seating tickets are $35 each. Cattle Drive tables are $350 per table of 10.
Donations may also be made directly to "Gifts from the Heart."
