NBA CAPSULES: Thunder hold on against Celtics

BOSTON (AP) - Russell Westbrook scored 31 points despite missing all seven shots he took in the fourth quarter and the Oklahoma City Thunder squandered most of a 10-point lead before holding on to beat the Boston Celtics 89-84 on Friday night.

Westbrook went 11 for 13 from the line, hitting a pair of free throws in the closing seconds after Boston cut the deficit to 85-84. The Thunder were playing without NBA scoring leader Kevin Durant, who has a sore left ankle.

Kevin Garnett scored 16 points for the Celtics, but had a season-low two rebounds. Rajon Rondo had 14 points and a season-low seven assists.

Boston had won three in a row and eight of nine.

Heat 95, Bobcats 87

MIAMI (AP) - LeBron James scored 32 points, Chris Bosh added 22 points and 14 rebounds, and Miami wasted another huge lead before hanging on to beat Charlotte.

Fighting off the flu, Dwyane Wade scored 11 for the Heat, who led by as many as 21 in the second quarter but found themselves down 82-80 after Stephen Jackson's 3-pointer with 4:56 remaining.

James hit a short jumper from the lane to put Miami up again, and Bosh made four straight free throws to give the Heat a 90-85 edge with 1:07 left. Udonis Haslem drew a charge on the next possession, fouling Gerald Wallace out of the game on the play.

Jackson finished with 30 points for Charlotte, which got 12 from Nazr Mohammed and 10 from Shaun Livingston.

Spurs 94, Jazz 82

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Tim Duncan set San Antonio's career scoring record, Tony Parker blocked out jeers from the crowd for 24 points, and the Spurs beat Utah for its ninth straight victory.

Duncan needed 13 points to eclipse the mark set by David Robinson over 14 seasons (20,790), and finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds for yet another double-double.

The Spurs improved to 10-1 for the first time.

Utah, plagued by another slow start, rallied from a 15-point deficit to tie the game late in the third quarter. But unlike road wins against Miami, Orlando, Atlanta and Charlotte, the Jazz (8-5) couldn't pull off another comeback.

Lakers 112, Timberwolves 95

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Kobe Bryant had 23 points and eight rebounds, and Matt Barnes scored 24 on 7-of-7 shooting to lead Los Angeles over Minnesota.

Lamar Odom dominated Team USA teammate Kevin Love with 11 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the Lakers (11-2).

Love, the NBA's leading rebounder, had just seven rebounds and was scoreless on 0-for-7 shooting.

Darko Milicic had career highs with 23 points, 16 rebounds and six blocks, and Michael Beasley had 25 points and 10 rebounds for the Wolves (4-10).

Bulls 88, Mavericks 83

DALLAS (AP) - Derrick Rose scored 22 points, Taj Gibson added 17 points and a career-high 18 rebounds before fouling out with under a minute to play, and Chicago rallied from a 12-point, third-quarter deficit to beat Dallas.

Rose sustained a cut on his nose in the final minute of the third quarter when he was fouled by Nowitzki, but remained in the game after getting treatment from a team trainer.

Joakim Noah contributed 10 points and 17 rebounds, and Kyle Korver had 14 points to help the Bulls end a five-game skid in Dallas.

Dirk Nowitzki scored a season-high 36 points for the Mavericks, but Caron Butler was their only other double-figure scorer with 12.

Hornets 108, Cavaliers 101

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - David West scored a season-high 34 points, and New Orleans held Cleveland to 35 percent shooting and survived a late flurry.

Cleveland, which trailed by double digits for the first 20 minutes of the second half, pulled within 104-101 on three free throws by Antawn Jamison with 21 seconds left. New Orleans' Marco Belinelli hit two foul shots two seconds later, and Trevor Ariza stole the ball from Ramon Sessions to seal the victory.

Chris Paul contributed 15 points, 10 assists and six steals for the Hornets. Belinelli added 20 points, including 12 during a decisive 18-2 run at the end of the first half.

Jamison led the Cavaliers with 20 points off the bench. Fellow reserve Sessions scored 16.

Wizards 89, Grizzlies 86

WASHINGTON (AP) - Gilbert Arenas scored 24 points, Kirk Hinrich had 22, and Washington beat Memphis despite shooting just 38 percent.

Playing the third straight game without injured guard John Wall, the backcourt combination of Arenas and Hinrich was able to pull the struggling Wizards to their fourth win in 11 games.

The Grizzlies, who lost for the fifth straight time, were led by Zach Randolph with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Memphis' skid is the longest since early last season, and its four-game winning streak against Washington ended.

Raptors 106, Rockets 96

TORONTO (AP) - Andrea Bargnani scored 26 points, Linas Kleiza had 17 and Toronto beat Houston to win consecutive games for the first time this season.

DeMar DeRozan added 15 points, Sonny Weems had 13 and Amir Johnson had 10 points and eight rebounds for the Raptors.

Jose Calderon had 10 points and seven assists, Jarrett Jack had eight assists and Reggie Evans had nine rebounds.

Kevin Martin matched his season high with 31 points, Luis Scola had 19 and Shane Battier 14 as Houston lost its third straight and dropped to 3-9.

Knicks 125, Warriors 119

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Raymond Felton scored a career-high 35 points on 13-of-17 shooting and dished out 11 assists, and New York held off Golden State's late rally to snap an eight-game losing streak in Oakland.

Amare Stoudemire made a driving layin with 2:42 left and finished with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Danilo Gallinari added 23 points and knocked down a key 3-pointer with 1:25 left as New York handed the Warriors their first home loss of the season and ended a four-game skid in the series overall.

Monta Ellis scored 40 points for his sixth career 40-point game and Stephen Curry had 29 points, eight assists and five rebounds for the Warriors.

76ers 90, Bucks 79

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Thaddeus Young scored a season-high 23 points, Lou Williams added 19 and Philadelphia snapped a five-game losing streak by beating Milwaukee.

Andres Nocioni contributed 12 points and Marreese Speights had 10 rebounds for the Sixers (3-10), who won for just the second time at home this season. Jrue Holiday also had 10 points.

Andre Iguodala missed his fifth game out of the last seven for the Sixers with tendinitis in his right Achilles'.

Corey Maggette led the Bucks (5-7) with 20 points, Drew Gooden added 16 and Brandon Jennings had 12.

Kings 86, Nets 81

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Tyreke Evans scored 20 points and Sacramento snapped a six-game losing streak by beating New Jersey.

Struggling in the early season, the youthful Kings also ended a five-game skid at home, avoiding their first 0-6 stretch at Arco Arena since an eight-game slide from Nov. 11 to Dec. 6, 2008.

Kris Humphries had 18 points and 10 rebounds, Anthony Morrow scored 17 points and Travis Outlaw 13 for the Nets. New Jersey lost its second straight and has dropped eight of 10 since starting the season 2-0 for the first time tine in eight seasons.
