CTRH acquiring local imaging company
Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare will acquire Great Basin Imaging, effective February 2011, the medical providers said this month.
The acquisition unites the largest health care provider in Carson City with the only stand-alone imaging practice in the same area.
"We are honored to bring the Great Basin Imaging providers into the Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare system," said Ed Epperson, the president and CEO of Carson Tahoe. "This acquisition advances imaging services in the region by adding PET/CT and open MRI to the vast array of imaging services already provided by Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare."
Great Basin Imaging will continue to operate from its location in north Carson City in the Eagle Medical Plaza.
Effective Feb. 1, 2011, a number of radiologists also will assume the radiology contract for Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare inpatient and outpatient needs.
Chromalloy expands operation in China
Chromalloy, a gas turbine maker with facilities in Carson City, announced Tuesday it is opening a new office in Beijing, China.
"Chromalloy now will more readily reach gas turbine engine operators who have yet to take advantage of our proven components and repairs - and significantly lower cost structure," said Armand F. Lauzon, Jr., company president. "We are responding to the demand for high quality, high performance turbine parts, repairs, services for gas turbine engines in all segments - aircraft, industrial, aero-derivative, marine applications."
The new office will expand the company's staff, too. During the past 18 months Chromalloy has announced other growth and expansion in its worldwide manufacturing, service and sales network.
The company also laid off 91 people in Carson City in September.
Carson company continues salvaging cables in Alaska
Carson City-based Mexus Gold U.S. announced its tugboat and its 230 foot barge arrived in Ketchikan, Alaska this week. The company is extracting metal cables that are submerged underwater. CEO Paul Thompson said the company will ship container loads of the salvaged cable to Walnut Grove, Calif., for analysis.
Advertising firm expands in Reno
Creative Concepts Media + Marketing, an advertising and media buying agency based in Truckee, Calif., announced it is opening an office in Reno and is adding two new employees.
Clients for the 20-year-old company include Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, Tahoe Forest Health System, Regional Transportation Commission, Regional Marketing Committee, Gems TV and Northstar-at-Tahoe.
The new location is at 328 California Ave., Suite 3 in Reno.
Amazon.com is hiring
Amazon.com, Inc. says its fulfillment center at Fernley will add thousands of jobs for the holiday season. The exact number wasn't disclosed. Integrity Staffing Solutions in Reno has the contract to provide the workers.
Minden company expands
EMCO High Voltage Corporation, a high voltage power supplies maker, is expanding its operations to 2436 Precision Dr., Minden.
The new location adds 5,000 square feet of new design and manufacturing space. An additional 5,000 square feet is planned for a second phase with available on-site capacity for further expansion.
The company's expansion was brokered by Chad Coons, CCIM, broker and president of Gillmor Coons Real Estate Group, LLC, based in Genoa, and members of the Northern Nevada Development Authority's Commercial Real Estate and Development committee.
EMCO President and CEO, Mike Doherty, said Minden, "represents an excellent combination of accessibility, skilled labor force and an attractive cost structure."
