Community supported family during time of need

The family of Faithann Hodorowicz thanks everyone who has helped them during the last 18 months. Faithann had a malignant brain tumor so she and I lived in Children's Hospital for nine months. She had four sessions of chemotherapy, two brain surgeries, 35 sessions of radiation and a bone marrow transplant. She is in remission now.

Thanks to the wonderful staff at Bordewich-Bray School for all they have done including all of the meals for Faithann's siblings and caretakers. Thank you to everyone for contributing to her medical fund, cleaning our house, living at our house and taking care of the girls, watching them overnight, taking them to school, taking them on the weekends, taking them to their sports events and all the other things that were done to help our family survive throughout this time.

Thanks to my awesome neighbors who took care of our pets, bills and anything else that needed to be done.

Faithann is attending high school now on a half-time basis. We are taking it one day at a time. We are so happy to be back in Carson City. We thank God for all of the caring and thoughtful people we have living here.

Community's generosity makes breakfast possible

Each year, the Carson City Republican Women's Club hosts a Nevada Day Pancake Breakfast. This event is more than 30 years old.

The proceeds go toward a $2,000 scholarship for two deserving students, one from Carson High and the other from Dayton High.

This event is open to the public.

Without the generosity of the following merchants and businesses in our town, none of this would have been possible.

Therefore, we would like to thank the following: Alsco Industries, Carson City Nugget, Casino Fandango, Costco, Gold Dust West, Grandma Hattie's Restaurant, McDonald's, Model Dairy, Slotworld Casino, Villa Basque Deli & Cafe and Monarch Direct Printing.

We were able to feed 441 people because of the generosity of these organizations.
