Carson Valley Medical Center, 1107 Highway 395 in Gardnerville, is seeking the help of the community to keep local youths safe. The hospital is hosting a youth bike helmet drive from Dec. 1-13. New helmets for toddlers to teenagers can be dropped off in the hospital lobby and they will be distributed through Project Santa Claus to families in need this holiday season.
"We are hoping to prevent the emergency room visits from children and teens with head injuries as a result of not wearing a helmet when they are out riding their bikes," said Shannon Albert, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Carson Valley Medical Center.
A helmet will be used to keep the community's youth safe throughout the year.
"We believe that this is such an important cause, that CVMC will match a portion of the donations received during the helmet drive," said Albert.
