About a month after staging a grand opening as V&T Coffee Company, the former Java Girls coffee stand in the Eagle Station shopping center has closed.

A sign posted in its window on Wednesday read, "Another one bites the dust," adding the business closed because of the economy.

"We will miss our customers and employees who stuck by us through this economy," it said.

A phone number was posted for owner Don Emborsky, who did not answer calls for comment on Wednesday.

The coffee stand, 3667 S. Carson St., used to feature baristas in lingerie, but rebranded to the V&T Coffee Company over the summer after opening in 2008. The Carson City Chamber of Commerce staged a ribbon cutting for the business

last month.

In July, Emborsky said the economy was a primary reason for the coffee hut's new brand, telling the Nevada Appeal, "The economy was so different in 2008. It seemed positive, everyone was so excited about (Java Girls)."

He said the downturn in the construction industry affected his business, but he maintained a positive outlook when he created V&T Coffee Company, noting its family-friendly allure.
