(AP) - Outgoing Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons received a "B" grade from a libertarian think tank for his performance in office.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Friday that Gibbons was one of 15 governors nationwide given "B" grades in the Cato Institute report. He tied with several others as eighth-best. Four governors were given "A" grades.
The ranking released Thursday gave the one-term Republican good marks for efforts to cut spending and prevent tax increases.
It noted the Democrat-dominated Legislature overrode Gibbons' veto last year of sales and payroll tax increases. The veto was one of a record 48 by a Nevada governor during a legislative session.
