Thanks to many helpers at Carson River clean-up
On behalf of the Carson City Kiwanis Club we would like to thank all of you who made the Sept. 18 Carson River clean-up a huge success.
This year we again had tremendous participation and support from the Carson High School NJROTC, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, BLM, Nevada Appeal, Carson City and Sierra Nevada Kiwanis Clubs, Carson High Key Club, Nevada Johns, the Carson City Sheriff's Office and their volunteers, and the city of Carson City.
We want to also thank all the individuals and families who came out to lend a hand. We are fortunate that we live in a beautiful place, along the Carson River, surrounded by public lands that we can use, respect and enjoy.
It is great to see folks who come to the Carson River clean-up recognize that with great opportunity comes responsibility to be caretakers of our public lands and the natural places we all enjoy.
Thanks again, and please come join us in September next year.

Community made 'A Journey ...' successful
Soroptimist International of the Comstock extends our gratitude to the many community members and businesses who supported "A Journey To Remember" in July.
This event, which included dinner and a ride on the Virginia & Truckee Railroad, helped us raise money that provides scholarships at three area high schools, assistance to women and children in the community who are facing financial challenges, and to support Signature Projects locally and around the world.
A special thanks to Tom Gray of the V&T, John Hertzel of A Catered Affair and Grandma Hattie's for the wonderful dinner, John Bennett for his talk about local history, and Tony Argento for providing the entertainment.
