NV Energy is decreasing its overall electric rates by 6.73 percent for Northern Nevada customers and decreasing overall natural gas rates by 8.39 percent for Reno-Sparks customers, the company announced Friday.
Since January 2009, electric rates will have decreased nearly 19 percent, while natural gas rates have dropped nearly 20 percent, according to the company.
The company attributed the decrease to more efficient generators and decreasing fuel prices.
The company said most electric customers are saving about $20 per month compared to January 2009 and natural gas customers about $14 per month.
