The Dayton girls soccer ended a busy two week period with a tough 2-1 loss against Fallon on Wednesday at home.
Dayton jumped out to a 1-0 lead 18 minutes into the game, but was unable to hold it.
Maribel Ledezma scored to give the Dust Devils the lead. Coach Jared Miklich said a nice pass gave Ledezma a one-on-one with the Fallon keeper. Ledezma then gained control of the ball and chipped the ball up and over the goalie and into the net.
Fallon would tie the game in the 26th minute and add the decisive goal in the 38th minute. Both goals came on unlucky breaks for the Dust Devil defense.
The first goal came after Dayton couldn't clear the ball and the Fallon player was able to beat Dust Devil goalie Natasha Wells.
Fallon's second goal came off of a corner kick that Dayton failed to clear.
Miklich said the Dust Devils had some scoring chances but weren't able to cash in on the opportunities.
The coach praised the play of Ledezma, Samantha Langer and Serena Pistilli.
Dayton did catch a much needed break in that Tuesday's game at Sparks was canceled because of weather.
That game will be made up Friday, Oct. 15.
Despite having that game postponed, Dayton has played five games in the last nine days.
"I am really happy with how they have played (so far this season)," Miklich said. "We have been really close in a lot of games."
Dayton - who has lost six games by one goal this season - gets a break before beginning a stretch of six key conference games. Dayton plays at Incline next Thursday before the makeup game with Sparks on Friday.
"It will be a big test to go back-to-back," Miklich said.
