RENO (AP) - Former Nevada first lady Dema Guinn has endorsed Democratic Senate Majority Leader Sen. Harry Reid's re-election campaign.

Guinn issued a statement Friday suggesting her late husband, former Republican Gov. Kenny Guinn, also would have endorsed Reid.

Among other things, she cited Reid's support of education programs such as the Millennium Scholarship and record of creating jobs.

Kenny Guinn, a two-term governor, died July 22 when he fell from the roof of his Las Vegas home. He was 73.

He pushed for the state's Millennium Scholarship fund, which has allowed thousands of Nevada students to go to college.

Dema Guinn was the latest in a string of prominent Nevada Republicans to endorse Reid, who's in a dead-heat race with Republican Sharron Angle.
