Join Inc. hosting personal skills workshops

Carson City's JOIN Inc., will host a series of life skills and employment workshops from Oct. 25-28.

The workshops start at 8:30 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m. at the Nevada State Welfare Office at 2533 N. Carson St., in the Laughlin Building, Suite 200.

The first session on Oct. 25 will focus on life skills such as self esteem building, time management and financial planning. The Oct. 26 session focuses on the "60-second me" and how to tell an employer about personal achievements.

The Oct. 27 focuses on developing resumes and the Oct. 28 on job interviews.

Carson business expanding services

Offsite Data Depot installed several climate-controlled storage vaults to its Mound House facility to store sensitive media, such as computer backup, microfilm and microfiche.

The vault service also is available to individuals for storage of valuable personal artifacts, such as paintings.

Over the next few months, the company said it plans to add more vaults with a variety of climate control characteristics for storing a broad spectrum of content.

Builders group hosting political candidates

The Builders Association of Western Nevada will host its October general membership meeting at 7 a.m. Oct. 19 at the Gold Dust West Hotel in Carson City.

Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. Political candidates who have been endorsed by BAWN will be there, too.

Energy director to be featured at NBC breakfast

Nevada Business Connections will host its next breakfast meeting 8 a.m. Oct. 20 and will feature Jim Groth, director of the State Energy Office, and Len Semas, publisher of the Sierra Sage magazine.

Door open at 7:30 a.m. at the Atlantis Casino in Reno. The meeting is scheduled for one hour.

Carson Valley store changes locations

Valley Door Works has moved to 1176 Angela Court, Ste. 105, in Minden, new owner Jason Lowry announced last week.

The business was located in Gardnerville and has kept the same phone number, 775-782-2850.
