Every day in Nevada, there are hundreds of volunteers who quietly strive to make a difference in their communities. Because Nevada Volunteers believes that their efforts should be honored and celebrated, the organization is encouraging all communities in Nevada to rally around their volunteer heroes by sharing their stories.
According to Shawn Lecker-Pomaville, the CEO of Nevada Volunteers, "We're pleased to provide a unique opportunity to recognize everyday citizens and organizations in Nevada who have made a lasting and positive impact on the lives of so many. Although our state continues to face a multitude of economic challenges, a glimmer of hope now shines in our communities thanks to the unselfish acts of people who continue to volunteer their time, talents and financial resources to make a difference. Their inspiring efforts deserve to be recognized."
Any group, organization, or individual who volunteers in our communities can submit their stories to Nevada Volunteers via their Web site, www.nevadavolunteers.org.
So help Nevada Volunteers inspire others to make a difference in Nevada by recognizing someone you know who is a shining star of volunteerism. Stories about your favorite volunteer must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 15.
Everyone who is nominated will be sent an invitation to this year's 2010 Points of Light Luncheon on Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Sam's Town Live Hotel and Casino, in Las Vegas, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
