Sharron Angle made a brief stop in Carson City on Monday at a Tea Party gathering in Mills Park.

"We need to just cut back on the spending, pay back the debt and repeal some of the most awful policies," she told the audience, specifically mentioning the health care legislation.

She also said a single subject rule must be put in place for congressional legislation.

"Deal with one subject at a time," she said. "Don't be putting your pork and your earmarks on good bills."

She concluded with a pitch to constitutionalists in the crowd.

"We want our law to be measured against the Constitution of the United States," she said.

After the address, a reporter asked whether she disavowed comments by her former pastor accusing Democrat incumbent Harry Reid of being a member of a "cult." Reid is Mormon.

Angle responded, "Yes," before staff escorted her off to a waiting vehicle, saying she had other appointments.

"I'm no longer in charge of my schedule," she said as she left.

There were nearly 100 people in attendance, including supporters of other Republican candidates for offices from Carson sheriff to the Nevada Legislature as well as the candidates themselves.

There were also nearly 50 Democrats about 100 yards away along Highway 50 waving signs supporting Reid at passing vehicles.
