An account has been set up by the Carson City Deputy Sheriff's Association for a Carson City deputy recently diagnosed with myeloma, a cancer that affects plasma cells in the bone marrow.

Deputy Kip Lee has been a deputy in Carson City for more than five years.

Lee will be seeking treatment at a cancer center in Utah for three months.

"We as an association wanted to provide him with an assistance fund to help him while he's away," said Deputy Don Gibson, president of the CCDSA. "Medical costs, living costs, and travel expenses should not be Kip's concern. We want him to concentrate on getting well and beating his cancer diagnosis."

The CCDSA has set up an account at Mutual of Omaha Bank making the first donation of $5,000.

If anyone would like to contribute to Lee you can make checks payable to the Kip Lee Myeloma Assistance Fund and mail them to CCDSA at P.O. Box 3244 Carson City, NV 89701 or go to any Mutual of Omaha Bank branch to contribute, account number 9000133637.

"I know that Carson City is a generous community and that together we can help support Deputy Lee and his family during this difficult time," said Gibson.
