COMMUNITY SPORTS: Carson Jr. Midgets blank Fallon

Carson City's Jr. Midgets came out strong with a 28-0 win over Fallon over the weekend in Pop Warner action.

The defense led the way for Carson as Diego Francis had a fumble recovery late in the fourth quarter. Kevin Rusler, Johnny Lopez, Jaremiah Abbott, Jonathan Ramirez and Noah Tomasco all had a great defensive game.

Colby Brown had a 43-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter. Josiah Pongasi added the extra point. Brown turned around and ran 25 yards for another touchdown in the first quarter with Pongasi adding the extra point. Austin Lowe added a 40-yard touchdown run. Early in the second quarter, Brady O'Keefe scored from 9-yards out on a run.

Carson is off this week before facing Sparks at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23. at Governors Field.

Boykin wins E.V. ladies day event

Kim Boykin's 38 was good enough to win the Criss Cross first flight low gross honors on Oct. 6. Carrie Harn's 33.5 was good enough for low net at the Eagle Valley Women's Golf Club ladies day event.

Joyce Guy, Angie Scrivner and Sherry Ramage tied for second place low net with 34s.

Charlotte Webber won the second flight low gross with a 45. Eva Sulprizio finished first with a low net of 31. Gerri Murphy was second with 32.5. Lynn Collins won third flight low gross honors with a 48. Gail Nelson won low net with a 28, she was followed by Dolores Hall with a 33.

Georgia Silva won closest to the pin on hole No. 4 and Boykin won closest to the pin on hole No. 8.

Sheridan aces 15th at Sunridge Golf Club

John Sheridan hit a hole in one at Sunridge golf course Oct. 6. Sheridan hit his hole-in-one on the 113-yard 15th hole. The shot was made with a 9-iron. Trep Thompson and Ed Adams were witnesses to the shot.

Fukuyama, Silsby win at Silver Oak

Ron Fukuyama and Kevin Silsby are the latest Silver Oak Men's Club winners.

Fukuyama shot a net 64 to win the tournament on Oct. 3. Rocky Koch finished second with a net 65, while John Owens and Nick Sutter tied for third with 66s. Gene Sorem was fifth with a 67.

Silsby won the tourney on Sept. 26, also with a net 64. J.P. Penrod and Kevin Johnson tied for second with 65s. Tom Butterton was fourth with a 67, while Jim Silsby and John Meyer tied for fifth with 68s.

Dean Metcalf bowls 300 at Carson Lanes

Tight races continue in both pool divisions

All Work & No Play continued to hold its lead over Tied & Soldiered in the Comstock Division of the Carson City chapter of the American Poolplayers Association.

All Work has 446 points, 10 ahead of Ties & Soldiered, 9-Spoke is third with 428 points.

Daniel McRae of the Over the Hill Gang lead the 6-7 tier with 12 points, two ahead of Don Allred of Scratch Masters. Robert Matteson of Rack Busters leads the 4-5 tier with 24 points, three ahead of Robert Wilson from Poke 'N' Hope. Lisa McCuiston of Tied & Soldiered leads the 2-3 tier with 23 points, four ahead of Lawrence Glositen of 9-Spoke.

Support Rackless Habits leads the Mosconi Division by one point over AltF4 and Rack Fink.

Edwin Scrivner leads the 6-7 tier with 17 points, while David Giovacchini of Jerry's Kids is second with 12. Just Leuty of Big Dogs leads the 4-5 tier with 11 points, while Mike Snoddy of Cues Yer Daddy and Christopher Skelley of AltF4 both have 10 points. Eric Richards of Support Rackless habits leads the 2-3 tier with 13 points and Kim Smedley of The Spoke is second with nine points.

Tigersharks swim over 50 miles to raise money for team

This past weekend, members of the Carson Tigersharks swim team gathered for the annual team fundraiser - Running of the Shark.

Swimmers of all ages collect pledges from the community for the number of laps they can swim in an hour. Ninety percent of the swimmers who participated this year swam over a mile in an hour, and many swam over two miles and one swimmer actually swam three miles in an hour.

The Tigersharks is a non-profit 501C3 and operates on a minimal annual budget. The group is always looking for support from the community. If you are interested in donating to the team, send your tax deductible check to the Carson Tigersharks, P.O. Box 1876, Carson City, NV 89702.

MIDDLE SCHOOL BASKETBALL

CMS improves to 10-0 in league

The Carson Middle School eighth grade girls baseball team won two games during the past week. CMS beat Alder Creek 41-4 on Thursday and beat Eagle Valley 33-26 on Tuesday. On Thursday, Maddie Preston lead the team with nine points and Gina Peacock added six. On Tuesday, Preston and Peacock both added 10 points. Kayla Aikins added seven for the 15-1 overall and 10-0 in league team.

Eagle Valley goes 1-1 on the week

Eagle Valley Middle School seventh grade basketball team split over the last week. On Thursday, EVMS beat Pau Wa Lu 23-11. Ivy Pembrook led the team with 12 points. Kaitlyn Bowman added five; and Jazmyn Conde, Anya Woodbury and Haley Gray each scored two.

On Tuesday, Carson Middle School beat Eagle Valley 25-9. Pembrook led the team with five points. Ari Seaver and Josie Share each scored two.

EVMS is now 4-10 overall and 3-7 in league. EVMS will compete in the Tah-Neva Tournament on Saturday at Carson High School.

CMS improves to 8-2 in league

The Carson Middle School seventh grade girls basketball team defeated Eagle Valley 27-9 on Tuesday. Leading CMS was Serena Miller with 10 points and Lorena Gomez with 4.

On Thursday the team beat Alder Creek 20-3. Leading the team was Lindy Lehman with eight points, and Miller with six.

On Oct. 5, the team fell to Carson Valley 14-9. Miller led the team with seven points and Andrea Maffei scored two.

On Sept. 30, the team beat South Tahoe 30-10. Maffei, Lehman and Gomez all added six points apiece. Miller and Melissa Glanzmann both added four points.

On Sept. 29, CMS defeated Yerington 36-22. Lehman added 10 points. Jozie Bucchianeri, Miller, Maffei and Glanzmann all added six points.

Throughout the course of the games, the team received consistent play from Liz Heinz, Bailey Allen, Allison Kibbe, Taylor Weddell and Huma Fierdhos.

CMS is now 13-3 overall and 8-2 in league. CMS will compete in the Tah-Neva Tournament on Saturday at Carson High School, action begins at 9 a.m.
