Carson City web company hires project manager

Noble Studios hired Crystal Blahnik as its senior project manager and producer, the Carson City company announced last week.

Blahnik's professional experience includes J. Walter Thompson in Detroit, where she managed high profile accounts like Ford Motor Company's sponsorship of American Idol on FOX.

She most recently worked as a project manager for Fuze, a web development company in Reno.


Coffee shop to host grand opening, ribbon cutting

The V&T Coffee Company, 3667 S. Carson St., will stage a grand opening from 8-6 p.m. on Saturday.

The Chamber of Commerce is doing a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. and MY Country 93.5 FM will be doing a remote broadcast from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Besides discounted drinks and donuts, there will be free train whistles for children and several raffle drawings with a $100 gift card to V&T Coffee.


Hospital hosting breast cancer awareness event

Carson Valley Medical Center will host an educational and informational event on breast cancer from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

The event, held during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, is promoting early detection and encouraging women to have regular mammograms.

During the event applications will be accepted for a limited number of free mammograms to uninsured women, provided by a grant from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.

NNDA hosting breakfast panel on innovation

The Northern Nevada Development Authority will host a breakfast meeting on Oct. 28 featuring a panel of speakers who will address how to make innovation profitable.

The event starts at 7:30 a.m. inside the Carson Nugget, 507 N. Carson St.

Speakers include Jim Groth, director of the Nevada State Office of Energy, Roger Jacobson, of the Desert Research Institute Energy Program, and Stephen Olson, president and CFO of ElectraTherm. Patty Wade of Wade Consulting will moderate the discussion.

Cost to attend is $20 for NNDA members and $35 for guests.
