Thanks to Food for Thought volunteers
Food for Thought would like to thank all our dozens of dedicated volunteers for all their hard work in putting on a community rummage sale fundraiser on Oct. 2. These amazing volunteers are the lifeblood of our efforts to provide weekend food for hungry children in our community and we simply could not fulfill our mission without them.
We also would like to thank St. Paul's Church for allowing us use of their church facility for the sale. We'd like to specifically thank Nellie Revelle and Dick Lowther from St. Paul's for all they did to help make this event a success. Jim Peckham and the staff at F.I.S.H. are tireless supporters of our efforts and we thank them for all their assistance.
The need to provide weekend food to children in our community continues to grow, as does our need for funds to fulfill the need. Our annual holiday appeal letter will be out in the community in early November. If you don't receive a letter and would like to provide support to feed hungry children in Carson City and some surrounding communities please visit our web site at www.nvfoodforthought.com to donate.

With volunteers, F.I.S.H. continues to provide assistance
On Friday night (Oct. 8) at the Governor's mansion, F.I.S.H. honored more than 100 volunteers with dinner and recognition awards. FISH is a community organization that provides food, shelter, clothing and medical assistance to the needy in Carson City, Douglas County, Dayton, and Storey counties. It could not continue serving these communities without the assistance of its hundreds of volunteers.
To our community, our business donors and again to our volunteers, we say thank you!
In 2009, between its food bank and the FISH dining room, FISH provided 160,000 meals in our community. FISH is launching its 2010 Trick or Treat for Food Drive to run through Oct. 31 and is encouraging school children to bring one can/per student/per day to continue feeding the community. Results will be posted at www.nvfish.com.
All are encouraged to support the children, and the volunteers who give freely to FISH so that FISH can continue to give in our community.
