SPARKS - Carson High's freshman football squad continued its winning ways with a 21-6 win over Spanish Springs Thursday night.

Carson improved to 6-1 heading into next Thursday's home game against Galena.

All the scoring was done in the fourth quarter, and the Carson coach credited Spanish Sprigs' defense for that.

"They completely shut down our passing game (for three quarters) and we couldn't run," Carson coach Billy McHenry said. "Fortunately they couldn't move the ball against us. Our defense played well."

The defense played so well that the Cougars didn't score until the final play of the game.

A safety gave Carson a 2-0 lead, and then Garrett Schaffer tossed a 15-yard TD pass to Austin Kiesow for an 8-0 lead. Kyle Denning caught a 30-yard scoring pass from Schaffer for a 15-0 lead, and Joey Thurman returned an interception 72 yards to complete Carson's scoring.

Stephan Sobkiewicz, Andy Cooper and Aaron Perez played well defensively. Perez recovered a first-half fumble in the end zone.

DAYTON SWEPT BY INCLINE

INCLINE VILLAGE - Incline rolled to a 7-0 win over the Dayton girls in a Northern 3A match Thursday afternoon.

Dayton visits Sparks today in a make-up match at 2 p.m.

Incline led 5-0 at half. Dayton managed just four shots on goal.

"We weren't controlling the ball," Dayton coach Jared Miklich. "There was no teamwork and no communication. I was very disappointed.

"We had a lot of mistakes. We had three or four balls that we tried to trap with our feet go off our legs into the middle and Incline was there. Incline came out hard and played a great game."

• The Dayton boys yielded five first-half goals and dropped a 6-1 decision to Incline.

Adan Gomez scored the Dust Devils' lone goal, and that came in the second half.
