Pumpkins in all shapes and sizes are on display and for sale in the front yard of Small Blessings Preschool on the corner of Division and Proctor streets.
"I've never seen all these different colors and shapes," said Pam Houghton, a member of the preschool's board.
The pumpkins were shipped in from New Mexico and range in size and price from 50 cents to $16, with a sale offering a third pumpkin free with purchase of the first two.
Pumpkins vary in shape from round to oval to almost flat, and some with a wart-like texture. Some are the traditional orange, while others are green or blue or striped.
"It's just a nice little fundraiser," Houghton said. "It's fun."
She said most customers are either members of the First United Methodist Church, which sponsors the day care, or people who just happen to drive by.
"It's working out pretty well," she said.
It is the school's third year hosting a pumpkin patch, and funds raised will go back into the school.
Houghton said proceeds will be used to buy bicycles and tricycles for the preschool as well as to update playground equipment.
The patch is open 11:30 a.m.-
6 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. to
3 p.m. Saturdays.
