RENO (AP) - Nevada's largest power company says its net income for the third quarter is almost identical to the earnings it reported last year at this time.
NV Energy President Michael Yackira said Monday he's pleased with the $182.7 million for the quarter that ended Sept. 30 "especially in light of the slower growth in Nevada."
It amounts to 78 cents per share, the same as the third quarter of 2009 when earnings totaled $182.6 million.
For the first nine months of the year, NV Energy reports net income of $218 million. that's up from $178.8 million in the first nine months of 2009.
The utility serves more than 2 million electricity customers in Nevada and northern California as well as 150,000 natural gas customers in the greater Reno-Sparks area.
