(AP) - More than a quarter-million Nevadans have already cast ballots in the general election and early tallies show Republicans and Democrats are running neck-and-neck in turnout.
Figures through Tuesday from the secretary of state's office show Democrats with an edge of about 1,500.
Statewide, 264,420 ballots have been cast. After 11 days of early voting, that's 110,00 more than those cast in the same time during the 2006 midterm election, but fall below the 393,000 early voters who went to the polls in the 2008 presidential election.
In Carson City, 7,561 have early voted through Wednesday. Of those, 2,704 were registered Democrats and 3,778 were registered Republicans.
In Clark County, Democrats so far outpace Republicans by 13,000 in votes casts.
In Washoe County, 2,662 more Republicans than Democrats have been to the polls.
