10th Silver State Rumble takes place Saturday

The 10th annual Silver State Rumble will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St.

The event sponsored by Bruno's Boxing Club will feature 12-15 bouts to celebrate Nevada Day. The main event features heavyweights DC Simpson, out of Gardnerville, boxing for Bruno's against Antoine Byrd, out of Reno, boxing for Elite Boxing.

A pair of Carson City heavyweights, Roger Quartero and Ricardo Monrroy will fight in what should be an exciting bout.

Females Elena Thurman and Liza Chavez, both from Bruno's Boxing Club, are going against opponents out of Reno.

And Diego Elizondo who just turned 12-years-old last Tuesday, with more than 30 amateur bouts to his credit will be in action. You don't want to miss this smokin' left handed future champion.

Bouts are subject to change. Cost is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and children younger than 5 are free. Hot dogs and refreshments will be available. For more information call Victor Bruno at 775-443-9324.

Also, an article ran in the Nevada Appeal a while back regarding Jonah Navarro. A young 10-year-old Carson City boy with brain cancer fighting for his life. Navarro is at a children's hospital in California, and has five other siblings.
