A storm system is expected to start rolling into the region tonight, with the best chance for rain happening tomorrow morning during the Nevada Day Parade, according to the National Weather Service.
Scott McGuire, a meteorologist with the NWS, said the rainfall will not be as heavy as last weekend, but high temperatures are expected to only reach 51 Saturday with winds of 15 mph and gusts up to 25 mph.
"(The system is) going to start moving onshore ... Friday afternoon and then by Friday night into Saturday it looks like it's going to be our best chance for precipitation," McGuire said. "It's going to be mostly cloudy and the winds are also going to pick up Friday night into Saturday as the system moves through the area."
But once the storm passes, temperatures are expected to climb back into the high 60s to low 70s by Election Day, McGuire said, which should be a boon for polling places in the region.
"So no excuses," he said.
October has been the wettest on record for Reno with 2.65 inches recorded so far, beating the 2.14 inches that fell in 1945.
