True to Nevada Day tradition, Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki fed the masses Saturday with hundreds of gallons of chili in the upstairs ballroom of the Carson Nugget.
Tyler Ingstad, 17, makes it a habit of attending the chili feed each year.
"It's in close proximity to the parade and it's free," he explained.
In addition to the free food, however, there also was plenty of political campaigning being served up.
"That's kind of why we're out here," said Reena Spansail, 17, who was sitting outside the main room where the chili was being served. "But if you get free chili in the process of getting preached to, it's better than just getting preached to."
Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell called both the food and the people "excellent, wonderful."
