LAS VEGAS (AP) - A statewide poll released Saturday shows that Republican Brian Sandoval heads into the election with a solid lead over Democrat Rory Reid in the governor's race.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal and KLAS-TV 8NewsNow poll also found that most Nevadans surveyed oppose ballot measures that would do away with the election of judges and create an intermediate appellate court.

The poll shows 54 percent favored Sandoval, a former federal judge, to 38 percent for Reid, chairman of the Clark County commission and son of U.S. Sen. Harry Reid.

Thirty-seven percent favored Question 1, which would change change how judges are selected, while 46 percent opposed it.

And 33 percent backed Question 2, which would create an intermediate appelate court, while 44 percent opposed it.
