A Reno man said he has plans to eventually bring an Einstein Bros. Bagels to Carson City.
Steve Reimer, 53, is opening the first of his seven planned Northern Nevada franchises in Reno this fall with another planned to open in Reno by January, too, he said. He said he plans to have all seven franchises open by 2016 with locations also in Sparks and Douglas County.
Reimer said he's toured Carson City twice with representatives from the Lakewood, Colo., based company, which is owned by Einstein and Noah Corp. There are more than 400 Einstein Bros. Bagels stores in 27 states that feature bagels, coffee drinks, sandwiches and pastries.
"We don't really have a particular order, it's all driven by the availability of the type of location that serves the Einstein guest best," Reimer said.
He said he had seriously considered a location in south Carson City, but the deal did not pan out.
If the business is to come to Carson City its location must be near a high volume of traffic for the morning business during the week and enough homes nearby to carry it on the weekend.
Plain bagels there cost about $1 and $2.50 with toppings. They also offer bottomless cups of coffee and specialty bagel sandwiches.
"If the absolute best site came up tomorrow we could be in (Carson City) in six months," said Reimer, who also runs three hotels in Grand Junction, Colo., with his brother.
